Hi,

My name is Martin Hassel, and I'm one of the Norwegian volunteer TED translators. I live in Trondheim, Norway, where I work as a safety consultant and engineer.

I have a Master's Degree in Naval Engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. My background is from the Royal Norwegian Navy, where I worked as a navigator and commanding officer for several years. (This means I am very detail oriented, and may give very direct feedback.)

My TED related background is that I have watched a lot of TED talks, and translated quite a few. In addition to this, I have organized a couple of TEDx events and attended TEDGlobal 2011, in Edinburgh, where I attended TEDx and OTP workshops. I have no formal translation background, but I'm married to an English teacher, and I'm very detail oriented and take pride in my work.

More information about me can be found on my TED.com profile or personal website. I'm also on Facebook and Twitter.
