Erik Pedersen is a member of the editing team that produces Hansard, the verbatim record of British Columbia Legislative Assembly parliamentary debate for the House and its Select Standing Committees. He has a background in graphic arts and computer programming and an interest in linguistics and spoken languages, particularly Esperanto. He holds a Supera Nivelo certification in Esperanto, obtained through the 2014 Nord-Amerika Somera Kursaro at the University of Victoria.

He is the original creator of over 2,000 new Wikipedia pages and has additionally made small grammatical and syntax improvements to many pages created by others. He has translated several articles from the English-language WIkipedia into equivalent versions for the Esperanto-language Vikipedio. He has also contributed numerous translations to open-source software localization efforts such as DokuWiki.org, Translatewiki.net and Transifex.com and to the multilanguage Tatoeba.org sentence database.
